FG to establish Air Force station, school in Zamfara

The Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mansur Dan-Ali, on Saturday said Federal Government would establish Air Force station in Gusau, Zamfara, to assist in tracking down criminals in the state and its environs.
The minister stated this in Gusau while launching the Integrated Medical Outreach for the military and civilians at the One Base Ammunition Depot of the Nigeria Army.

He said that the government would also establish three post-primary schools, including a Command Secondary School with boarding facilities to be located at Talata-Mafara, Army Day Secondary School, Gusau and Air Force Girls Secondary School, Kaura-Namoda.
On the medical outreach programme, the minister said that it was aimed at sensitising the army, their families and members of their host communities to their general health well-being.
He said that the people would be enlightened on various health ailments, and would receive free medical check-up and free drugs, where required while those with more serious problem would be referred to bigger health facilities.
Earlier in a welcome address, the Director of the Medical Services of the Federal Ministry of Defence, Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, said that with 185 health facilities in major towns, the ministry decided the number by extending to Zamfara.
In his remarks, the Deputy Governor of the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Wakkala, expressed the state government delight with the Federal Government’s effort in fighting terrorism and armed banditry in the state.
